The Greater Boston Food Bank Welcomes THD Volunteers

More than 30 THD volunteers traveled from its Lexington offices to the Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB) on May 2nd, 2013 in order to help end hunger in our community.

They spent several hours helping to inspect, sort, and pack food and grocery products in the GBFB warehouse on South Bay Avenue in Boston. After a brief training session, volunteers worked on the assembly line loading boxes on conveyer belts, examining products to determine which were acceptable, and weighing boxes that were to be sent to local food pantries and soup kitchens.

In total, the volunteers helped sort more than 10,000 pounds of food. Each volunteer made more than 147 meals possible for the men, women, and children that the Greater Boston Food Bank serves.
